Supported Hardware¶
LLIMAGER-win and the LLIMAGER Linux dead-box environment are designed to work across standard x86-64 PC hardware, without platform-specific modifications.
Native (Live) Acquisition — LLIMAGER-win¶
- Windows 10 and Windows 11 (64-bit) target machines.
Dead-Box Acquisition — LLIMAGER Linux (Ventoy Boot)¶
Because the dead-box environment boots independently of the installed operating system, hardware compatibility is governed by UEFI/BIOS boot support rather than by Windows itself:
- Standard x86-64 PCs and laptops (UEFI boot).
- Intel-based Mac hardware, including systems with the Apple T2 security chip — confirmed via real hardware testing.
Dead-box environment boots are hardly dependendent of the hardware and there may be cases where this type of imaging will not be feasible. In such cases, make a live image of the entire disk using that option.
Known Hardware Constraints¶
- T2-equipped Intel Macs: the internal keyboard and trackpad are blocked by the T2 chip's security policy during external boot. An external USB mouse (and keyboard, if needed) is required. This is a hardware limitation, not a software defect.
- Apple Silicon (M-series) Macs: not currently supported for dead-box boot, as these systems do not support booting external x86/Linux media in the same way as Intel Macs.
